It has just hit like a ton of bricks. I clicked open the calendar on my com, and yes I know today is the first of July, and yes, I know that my birthday is on the 5th. That's soon enough. But somehow when all the dates of a month fit into a little 3 x 3cm box, it seems waay shorter
Somedays, even the very thought of getting into the shower is a chore. And then there are those other times, when it is a refuge. When you need a timeout.
So you turn on the tap, and shut the world out as best you can manage. You stand under the running water, letting it envelope your face. You stand still as it drowns out everything else around you, till you hear nothing but the sound of gushing water in your ears. Underneath the cascading sheets of water, you are alone, but safe, if only for a moment. Safe from the world; safe from yourself. You think, if only i could remain here forever.
Then, a callous hint of reality pierces through your temporary sanctuary, and you reach for the tap, reminded of something called a 'water bill'.
